O Tribunal Europeu dos Direitos do Homem ratificou a sua sentença de Novembro de 2009, ao sentenciar que a presença de crucifixos nas escolas públicas italianas não viola a educação nem a liberdade de pensamento e religião. A nova sentença, definitiva e inapelável, que foi aprovada com 15 votos a favor e 2 contra, assinala que a Itália não infringe a Convenção Europeia dos Direitos Humanos e encontra-se dentro dos limites no exercício no que ao ensino diz respeito das suas no que à educação se refere, ao manter os crucifixos nas escolas públicas. un numeroso grupo de chicos y chicas entró en la capilla del campus de Somosaguas y tras leer en voz alta sus críticas hacia la Iglesia Católica y proferir insultos contra el clero, varias de las jóvenes, rodeando el altar, se desnudaron de cintura para arriba entre los aplausos y vítores del resto de los gamberros. Una alumna, esta sí, de Económicas que, en esos momentos, rezaba en la iglesia, cuenta que dos de las gamberras, ya sin ropa, «hicieron alarde de su tendencia homosexual».

Según ha podido saber ABC, los responsables religiosos de este templo universitario tienen intención de interponer una denuncia en la comisaría de Policía de Pozuelo de Alarcón, municipio al que pertenece este campus de la Universidad Complutense (UCM). Los ataques a esta capilla no son nuevos. A principios de esta semana, según fuentes universitarias, la paredes y puertas del recinto aparecieron llenas de pintadas con más improperios hacia la religión católica. También se aludía a los casos de pederastia entre el clero. Ayer, sin ir más lejos, la mayor parte de las pintadas estaban ya tapadas con pintura y, salvo algunas frases o palabras, no se podía leer lo que había debajo. Esta capilla lo es, en realidad, de toda la Universidad Complutense si bien se encuentra físicamente en uno de los edificios pertenecientes a la facultad de Psicología, en el campus de Somosaguas.

Fotos del Papa Algunas de las autoridades académicas consultadas por este periódico han confirmado que, en efecto, el grupo de vándalos era numerosos. Se habla, incluso, de entre 60 y 70 jóvenes. Lo que parece claro es que procedían de la facultad de Ciencias Políticas y que iban protestando y dejándose ver por todo el recinto universitario de Somosaguas. «Llevaban fotos del Papa y, algunos de ellos, pañuelos verdes en la cabeza», ha comentado un representante académico.

Según testigos presenciales, los salvajes entraron en tropel a la antesala de la capilla. El capellán se percató del barullo y quiso que desistieran en su empeño. Imposible. El hombre se puso enmedio pero resultó zarandeado. «¡Menos mal que no han destrozado nada!», relataba otra autoridad académica del campus de Somosaguas.

Este capellan responsable de la capilla universitaria declinó ayer hacer cualquier comentario a este periódico. Nos remitió a la Delegación de Pastoral Universitaria donde, durante toda la tarde, nadie atendió al otro lado del teléfono.

Provocación «Al margen de las creencias religiosas de cada uno de “estos”, no me resisto a alzar la voz ante un hecho tan lamentable como este», asegura S.V.H., alumna de la Complutense. «¿Qué habría pasado —se pregunta— si algo así se hubiera producido en una mezquita? Que “esos” sepan que los católicos nunca responderán a la provocación con provocación para defenderse». «Pero nadie podrá callarnos —concluye esta universitaria—, ante el más mínimo atropello, burla, intimidación o cualquier otro apremio ilegítimo que ofenda los sentimientos religiosos de nadie. Además, acciones como estas están castigadas por nuestro ordenamiento jurídico. ¡Qué fácil y cobarde es actuar en el anonimato!». Sin embargo, lo del anonimato es relativo porque, según han asegurado varios cargos universitarios, «si se quiere, se podría reconocer a alguno de los que ayer entró en la capilla».

Boicot en Barcelona Lo que esta semana ha ocurrido en la capilla del campus de la Complutense en Somosaguas es, para algunos universitarios, «otro ataque laicista» similar al sucedido en la Universidad de Barcelona (UB) entre noviembre de 2010 y enero de 2011. Y es que a finales de noviembre, los alumnos de la facultad de Económicas de la universidad catalana con encontraban con que cada vez que querían entrar a misa en su capilla, grupos radicales se lo impedían. A finales de enero de este año, la institución de enseñanza superior de Barcelona, ante la magnitud del boicot, cerró temporalmente la capilla y suspendió las misas. Alemanha: mais pais na prisão por rejeitarem educação sexual estatal

43 associações do mundo inteiro exigem liberdade para os progenitores objetores

MADRI, quarta-feira, 16 de março de 2011 (ZENIT.org) - Na semana passada, a Europa descobriu com surpresa que, em um país democrático como a Alemanha, uma mãe foi presa por se recusar a levar seus filhos à aula de educação sexual do Estado e que já eram 53 os pais condenados por esse motivo.

Na última segunda-feira - informa a ZENIT a associação Profissionais pela Ética - a ‘Alliance Defense Fund' (ADF), entidade jurídica que defende os direitos das famílias alemãs perante o Tribunal Europeu de Direitos Humanos de Estrasburgo, informou sobre dois novos casos de prisão de pais em Salzkotten.

São eles: Eduard W., pai de 8 filhos, e Artur W., pai de 10 filhos e a duas semanas de ter o 11º.

Esses pais se recusaram a permitir que seus filhos participem do programa de educação sexual, porque não concordam com a educação sexual que o Estado quer impor aos seus filhos de forma obrigatória e consideram que seus direitos humanos e civis estão sendo violados.

De acordo com Roger Kiska, advogado de ADF, o Tribunal Europeu de Direitos Humanos de Estrasburgo não aceitou o pedido para decretar medidas de emergência para libertar a Sra. Wiens, apesar da prisão injusta.

"Estamos convencidos de que, quando o Tribunal de Estrasburgo ditar sua sentença sobre os casos de pais que foram presos pelo simples fato de exercer a paternidade, a justiça vai prevalecer", disse ele.

Enquanto isso, na Espanha, Profissionais pela Ética promove uma declaração a favor da Sra. Wiens, a mãe presa pelo mesmo motivo, na mesma localidade alemã de Salzkotten, assim como de outros pais alemães condenados.

Nesta declaração, que foi assinada por 43 associações da Espanha, Irlanda, Itália, Bélgica, França, Eslováquia, Alemanha, EUA, Quênia, Filipinas, México e Noruega, pede-se às autoridades alemãs que libertem os pais presos por quererem educar seus filhos segundo suas convicções.

Também se exige que as instituições europeias garantam os direitos fundamentais e a liberdade de educação.

A declaração foi enviada às seguintes instituições: Chancelaria Federal da Alemanha; governo federal alemão; ministérios da Cultura e Educação dos estados alemães federados; instituições do Conselho da Europa; representantes dos governos alemão e espanhol no Conselho da Europa; Parlamento Europeu; embaixada alemã na Espanha; tribunais que condenaram os progenitores alemães; pais alemães presos.

"Com esta ação - disse Leonor Tamayo, chefe da área internacional de Profissionais pela Ética -, queremos sensibilizar a opinião pública e apoiar os pais, obrigando as autoridades a evitar essa violação agressiva dos direitos humanos."

Alcalde condenado por santiguarse y rezar una oración al inicio de cada sesión municipal

Es una tradición inmemorial en la villa de Saguenay, donde el 90% de los habitantes con católicos. Pero le molestó a uno, y...

La ofensiva anticatólica mundial no se detiene ante nada. En Saguenay, en el Québec francófono canadiense, llevan desde tiempo inmemorial iniciando las sesiones municipales con una oración, que dirige el alcalde tras santiguarse. Así fue durante siglos y a nadie molestó, en una ciudad de 150.000 habitantes donde el 90% son católicos.

Hasta que a uno de ellos, en una maniobra orquestada por el movimiento laicista quebequés, le dio por denunciar el hecho. Entonces el Tribunal de Derechos de la Persona, siguiendo criterios parejos a los del Tribunal de Derechos Humanos de Estrasburgo para arrancar los crucifijos de los espacios públicos en Europa, decidió condenar al alcalde Jean Tremblay a una multa de 22.000 euros. Y, por supuesto, a dejar de rezar y de santiguarse. Y, por añadidura, a quitar la imagen del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y el crucifijo que presidían las sesiones municipales.

La sentencia se dictó el 11 de febrero y un mes después el Ayuntamiento ha presentado el correspondiente recurso ante el Tribunal Supremo, que se verá en primera instancia el próximo día 25. El pueblo está con Tremblay, y respondió en masa al llamamiento de su alcalde para que la multa se abonase mediante aportaciones voluntarias, y no con cargo a las arcas locales. En un par de semanas reunió el triple de la cantidad necesaria.

«Probablemente es la primera vez en la historia del mundo en que a un alcalde se le impide rezar y se le condena por hacerlo», ha dicho Tremblay, quien ha hecho caso omiso de la prohibición judicial y ha seguido santiguándose al inicio de cada pleno: «¿Cómo vamos a ceder? ¡Estas cosas no se pueden dejar pasar, porque tendrían repercusión en todo Québec! Esta gente [el movimiento laicista que le denunció] quieren ser ellos la ley en todo: "Quita este crucifijo aquí, cambia este nombre allá, haz esto, haz lo otro"».

En efecto, los grupos anticristianos ya han aprovechado esta primera sentencia para pedir que se quite también el crucifijo que preside el Parlamento de Québec, algo a lo que por ahora se niega el primer ministro Jean Charest, por medio de su portavoz, Hugo d´Amours: «La Iglesia ha jugado un papel importante en la historia de Québec y el crucifijo es un símbolo de ello». En 2008 la cámara aprobó por unanimidad dejar el crucifijo en su sitio.

Por presión de los grupos laicistas, en muchos Ayuntamientos de esa provincia de Canadá la oración inicial fue sustituida por un minuto de recogimiento. Tremblay no está dispuesto a eso, y a que cuatrocientos cincuenta años de historia y la voluntad mayoritaria de los habitantes de su ciudad tengan que ceder ante la reclamación de minorías radicales amparadas por los tribunales de derechos humanos. Horror in Samaria: A terrorist infiltrated the West Bank settlement of Itamar, southeast of Nablus, early Saturday and stabbed five family members to death.

The shocking attack occurred around 1 am as the terrorist entered the family home and murdered three children aged 11, 3, and a baby girl along with their parents. The victims were apparently sleeping as the killer came in.

Itamar residents reported that shots were heard in the area; the terrorist managed to flee the scene.

Three other children at the home, a 12-year-old girl and her two brothers, aged 6 and 2, were able to escape to a nearby house and inform their neighbors of the attack.

The terrorist who carried out the massacre cut the fence surrounding Itamar and entered the home of the victims through the window, an initial probe of the murder showed. Authorities could not immediately discount the possibility that more than one attacker was involved in the murder.

'Toys next to pools of blood'

Following an initial report of the incident, large IDF and police forces rushed to the site. The Air Force also joined the effort to track down the terrorist, deploying numerous aircraft in the area. The night’s sky was lit up with flares, as special IDF and police forces were called in to assist in the manhunt.

The IDF Spokesman’s Office said “troops are scouring the area in search of the suspect. The IDF is performing inspections at all crossing points set up in the region.”

Magen David Adom ambulance service teams pronounced the victims dead at the scene. MDA spokesman Zaki Heller said the ambulance service got a call around 1 am and dispatched large teams of paramedics to the area.

“When rescue forces entered the house they encountered a very difficult sight...There were five people there who were hurt. We could do nothing but pronounce them dead,” he said.

Paramedic Kabaha Muayua was among the first responders at the site and described the horrific scene he encountered.

“We could not help the first four stab victims. Following an inspection of the scene I spotted an infant of about three who still had a pulse. We engaged in lengthy resuscitation efforts but had to pronounce him dead,” he said. “The murder scene was shocking. Kids’ toys right next to pools of blood.”

Paramedic Gil Moscowitz, who serves as MDA’s director of operations, said teams dispatched to the home discovered “parents and three children who were brutally murdered.”

Being at the mercy of the Muslim majority for a permit stacks the deck against building new churches and lends itself to excuses for closing existing ones, as is described in detail below.

This church was providing financial aid to several young Muslims without trying to convert them. But for the children to see the filthy kuffar engaging in acts of kindness is bad for the business of Islamic supremacism.

Jakarta (AsiaNews) – The statement by a Muslim fundamentalist leader, whose name and background remain unknown, has led to the closure of a Protestant church in Sleman Regency (district), in Yogyakarta province. For the Muslim guru, the church had to close (using pressures and intimidation) because the building, allegedly, did not have a building permit and its pastor had engaged in proselytising among young Muslims. The reality is quite different. Local sources insist that the Christian clergyman was an advocate of interfaith dialogue and had provided financial aid to five Muslim children without any intention of converting them.

The whole thing began in a village in Sleman Regency on the island of Java. The Pentecostal church of El-Shaddai (Gereja Pantekosta di Indonesia, GPdI) under Rev Nico Lomboan STH was forced to close down after a close-door meeting between the clergyman and local officials.

The latter acted following pressures by a local political leader and a Muslim leader, known locally as Turmudi. The latter used inflammatory language to rouse crowds, with the result that the province put a stop to Christian activities, and neon signs in front of the church were removed.

The Muslim guru claimed that the place of worship lacked a proper building permit (Izin Mendirikan Bangunan or IMB in Indonesian), normally issued by local authorities. Christians who want to build a church must also obtain the signatures of 60 local residents as well as the green light of the local agency for interfaith dialogue. Even then, having all the right papers is no guarantee that they will get their church. Local authorities are often forced by Muslim fundamentalists to reject permit applications by Christians or back track after granting them.

Rev Lomboan said that he had applied to all the right authorities “as far back as 1995”. In the area, Christians have been active since 1990. “Nothing happened until December 2010 when construction [of the church] was almost complete,” he explained.

Muslims and Christians were involved in interfaith dialogue and he had developed a good reputation, providing financial assistance to 11 students. “Five are Muslims,” he notes, “and no one tried to convert them. In fact, they are still Muslim.”

However, on 16 February of this year, a group of mothers, roused by the Muslim guru, forced their way into his house, demanding he stop his activities. The next day, the local Regency council summoned Rev Lomboan. The meeting ended with the closure of his church and the termination of all its activities. The money he had provided to Muslim children was treated as “evidence of Christian proselytising.”

Speaking to AsiaNews on condition of anonymity, local sources said that “the controversial Muslim guru, Turmudi, is not from Sleman. All school agencies in the area have no idea who he might be and from where he might come.” Read more at www.jihadwatch.org

An update on last week's story, which reported that five churches were burned following a rumor that Christians desecrated a Qur'an. The count is now up to "55 churches, 30 Christian homes, a Bible school, a Christian orphanage, and a church office," with 3000 Christians displaced, one dead, and several beaten.

This was a rampage waiting for an excuse. Someone evidently got tired of waiting and made one up. "Ethiopia Sends Military to Stop Muslim Violence Against Christians," from International Christian Concern, March 9:

Washington -- International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that the Ethiopian government has sent military forces to put down the anti-Christian violence perpetrated by Muslims in Asendabo and the surrounding areas. Government officials have arrested several Muslims suspected of attacking Christians in the area.

When the attacks began on March 2, Muslims killed one Christian, wounded several others, burned down 55 churches, 30 Christian homes, a Bible school, a Christian orphanage, and a church office. More than 3,000 Christians are now displaced because of the violence.

The violence started after Muslims falsely accused Christians of desecrating the Qur'an. The local police and government officials did nothing to stop the attackers. Federal government officials have now stepped in and removed the local Muslim administrator for his failure to protect Christians.

A Christian leader told ICC that the attacks were organized by members of Kwarej, a radical Islamic group that fights to establish an Islamic state in Ethiopia. The Muslim attackers came from different parts of Ethiopia, including the Somali region.

"It's very sad that a radical Muslim group destabilizes the unity of Ethiopian Christians and Muslims. We are devastated by the attacks and we urge all concerned people to help us. We call upon Ethiopian officials to prevent similar attacks from happening in the future," the church leader added.

Asendabo is a town located in Jimma Zone, Western Ethiopia. Western Ethiopia was the scene of violent attacks against Christians in 2006 when Muslims killed more than a dozen Christians and burned down several churches. Thousands of Christians have been forced to leave their homes as a result of these attacks.

Deobandi fatwa: Women can't travel more than 48 miles without a male guardian

The Sahih, or "sound," "reliable" ahadith of Bukhari and Muslim do contain many a hadith where Muhammad restricts a woman's radius of mobility to either three days' travel (for example, Bukhari 2.20.192-193; Muslim 7.3096-98, 3101-03, etc.), two days (Muslim 7.3099-3100) or one day and one night (Bukhari 2.20.194, Muslim 7.3104). Sahih Muslim Chapter 72, from which those ahadith are taken, is a section repeating Muhammad's restrictions on women's travel from corroborating sources. Since Muhammad is a "beautiful pattern of conduct" for all time (Qur'an 33:21), there is no question raised here that such a prescription might merit even adjusting before inflicting it on women.

It is worth noting that Deobandis control a substantial number of mosques in Britain -- almost half as of late 2007, and the recent Dispatches exposé on Islamic schools confirmed the number remains comparable. Will they disavow this fatwa? They should be asked about it.

The ruling was made by the Darul Uloom Deoband, the leading Islamic university founded in northern India in 1866, which has millions of followers from Bangladesh and Pakistan to Muslim communities in Britain.

Its fatwa was issued after a female follower had asked: "Is a married woman permitted to travel to another country with her female sibling?"

In a reply on the Deoband website, she was told:"She cannot travel without a 'mehram' [male relative]. It's mentioned in the Hadees that a woman should not travel for more than 48 miles except in the company of a 'mehram' relative."

Its response, which was delivered on International Women's Day, provoked anger among Muslim women activists who said it was based on conditions in the Arabian peninsula more than 1,400 years ago and no longer relevant in the modern world.

The decision was defended by a Deobandi spokesman who said the increase in violent crime against women in India showed it remained relevant. "No Muslim family should have any objections," he said.

A new study has shown that it appears to increase psychotic episodes among the young.  From the story:

A team of international researchers followed the lives of almost 2,000 young Germans, who began with no history of psychosis, for more than a decade. They discovered that youngsters who started smoking the drug at college age were 90 per cent more likely to have psychotic symptoms in their mid-20s. In the study, cannabis users were defined as those who had used the drug at least five times between 18 and 21. Rates of psychotic episodes between users and non-users at the age of 26 were then compared. Other factors known to affect likelihood of psychosis, such as childhood trauma, class, and growing up in an urban environment, were accounted for. The authors, led by Rebecca Kuepper, a research psychologist at Maastricht University in The Netherlands, concluded: “This 10 year follow-up study showed that incident cannabis use significantly increased the risk of incident psychotic experiences.” Using cannabis in one’s youth almost doubles the risk of having psychotic episodes like paranoia and hallucinations, a study has found.  The scientists believe that exposure to THC, the main psychoactive component in cannabis, makes the brain more susceptible to psychotic episodes. The study also found that a rise in psychotic episodes followed cannabis use, rather than the other way around, disproving the theory that the relationship between the two was nothing more than people prone to psychosis self-medicating.

Abuse of marijuna leads to health problems,as a 2008, the Daily Telegraph reported after the UK reduced the legal seriousness of marijuana possession:

The public health impact of the Government’s decision to downgrade cannabis is disclosed today in official figures showing a 50 per cent rise in the number of people requiring medical treatment after using the drug. Since cannabis was downgraded from a Class B to a Class C drug, the number of adults being treated in hospitals and clinics in England for its effects has risen to more than 16,500 a year. In addition, the number of children needing medical attention after smoking the drug has risen to more than 9,200. Almost 500 adults and children are treated in hospitals and clinics every week for the effects of cannabis.

More recently, we see that animal studies suggest it could cause the big C:

Cannabis damages the immune system, leaving the body open to diseases from pneumonia to cancer, research suggests. In experiments, THC, the chemical behind the ‘high’ of cannabis fuelled the production of a flood of cells thought to weaken the body’s inbuilt defences. The finding suggests that cannabis, the drug of choice for many Britons, increases vulnerability to breast, bladder, lung and other tumours, as well as bacterial infections such as Legionnaires disease. Worryingly, skunk, the super-strength cannabis that is particularly popular, may be extra-damaging, due to its extra-high THC content. While cannabis’s links to devastating mental health problems are well known, its potential to wreck the immune system has received less attention. The American research focused on the effect of cannabis chemicals including THC on the immune system. In tests on mice, they triggered the production of a ‘massive’ number of immune cells called myeloid-derived suppressor cells or MDSCs. These normally act as a safety brake on the immune system stopping its battle against disease from spiralling out of control. (AINA) -- According to Father Abram Fahmy, pastor of St. Simon the Tanner Monastery in Mokatam Hills, on the outskirts of Cairo, Copts were killed and injured today in a fresh attack by Muslims. It was reported the Egyptian army fired live ammunition on Copts. The attack has claimed until now the lives of 9 Copts and injured 150, 45 seriously.

Muslims threw fire balls at the Monastery from the top of the hills. Coptic youth have arrested five of them, who are now being held within the Monastery grounds, waiting to be handed over to the authorities.

Eight homes and 20 garbage recycling factories owned by Copts have been torched, as well as 30 garbage collection vehicles.

The incident started when 500 Coptic demonstrators from Manshier Nasr, also known as "Garbage City," which is near the Monastery, were on their way to join the Coptic protest near the Egyptian TV Building, to show their solidarity with the Copts of the village of Soul in Atfif, who were forcibly displaced from their village and their church torched (AINA 3-5-2011). Nearly 15,000 Muslims from the nearby area of Sayeda Aisha and Mokattam, who were armed with weapons including automatic guns, confronted the Copts.

The clashes first started with hurling of stones at the Coptic demonstrators, then Molotov Cocktails. According to eyewitnesses the Copts called the army which arrived at the scene at 15:00 with 10 tanks . At first the military stood by watching, then shot in the air, then at the Coptic side with live ammunition.

"We were at one side and the Muslim on the other, we have hundreds of injured at the Coptic side," said an eyewitness. "The Muslims were also shooting from behind the army tanks."

First-aid was given to the injured in the clinic attached to the Monastery, "But there are only 3 doctors here, not enough to look after all the injured," said the Church custodian. According to one of the doctors all injuries were caused by gun shots. The injured were transported by private persons to various hospitals around Cairo, as ambulances refused to respond to their calls.

It was reported that Muslims stood at the head of the road and any garbage collecting vehicle belonging to Copts from "Garbage City" was confiscated and the owners beaten.

Attorney Wagih Anwar Abou Saad, an eyewitness, told Free Coptic Voice the army has been firing live ammunition on the Copts since 3 PM. "The army is protecting the Muslims, who sought shelter behind the army tanks," he said.

There was a media blackout on the incident. There are no reports of any Muslim casualties.

The Coptic sit-in in front of the Egyptian TV building (AINA 3-8-2011) in Cairo has been ongoing since Saturday March 5, as the army has not yet fulfilled its promise to the Copts of handing over the torched church in the village of Soul, under the pretext that Muslim are demonstrating near the church.
